EYECRYPT

ABOUT

EYECRYPT is a tool that visualizes the effect of encryption on an image. It is inspired by the 'ECB penguin'.

The resulting visual effects are possible due to the vulnerabilities of encryption methods that allow patterns to be discerned. Though these encryption methods have been found to be ill-advised for the use of actual obfuscation of data, I think the effect that these primitive encryption methods perform on images is very beautiful, and I wanted to create a tool so that others could experiment with it as well.

I hope you can find it as fascinating and wonderful as I do.

USAGE

Simply choose an image on your computer and where to save the result, then press 'GO'!

Optionally, you may also define a key (hexadecimal value) and encryption algorithm.

Try experimenting with different key and algorithm combinations!

TIP: This tool works best on images with large areas of uniform color.
